Hachi Hana Japanese Restaurant

Hachi Hana, located on 1426 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC is one of my favorite sushi places. It's not too far from home and that's why we like frequenting the restaurant. The food is always fresh, good, and best of all very reasonably priced. They are open for business everyday except on Sunday. Here is what we ordered during our recent visit.

Kappa Maki $2.00

Gyoza  $3.95

Spider Roll  $8.95

Bento C $12.95 (Miso Soup, Prawn & Vegetable Tempura, Salads, Tuna & Salmon Sashimi, Assorted Sushi & Tempura Roll)

Bento B  $8.95 (Miso Soup, Chicken Teriyaki With Vegetables, Prawn & Vegetables, Salads, Tuna Rolls & BC Rolls)

Oh I am so jealous. I live in Southeast WA where people are very skeptical of sushi. I mean, you even mention the word and people start gagging. We don't have anything like this within at least 100 miles (probably more!) so I'll enjoy it virtually through your photo.

My boyfriend used to live on the North Shore, so we loved going to Hachi Hana! Their bentos are a great value and everything is just so fresh. The only bad part was that they weren't open on Sundays, but I guess when you make a lot of money, you don't have to be open seven days a week! ;p

@ prdtofthe80s: I must agree with you regards their bento. Actually, most of the Japanese restaurants around North Shore closed on Sunday. I don't why, maybe like you say, they make a lot of money? :)

I biggest thing I miss from our move to Victoria from North Van is Hachi Hana. Not a huge place but really the finest sushi I've had anywhere with the exception of Tojos (a whole different realm price-wise). The only item I'm not a fond of is their miso soup --for some reason its back-taste reminds me elasto-plast bandaids. I asked how they made it they proudly proclaimed it was clam juice that gave it that extra special flavour. Meh.
The best thing I think is their spicy tuna sashimi...lightly dressed with non-oily spicey sauce and garnished with radish sprouts.
Much thought it put into both the presentation and flavours of all their dishes.

Another place to go good and less expensive sushi is Gen Sushi on Lonsdale between 19th & 20th. Their spicy sashimi uses sesame oil as the base, but it's damn tasty too. If you're in a hurry I recommend Gen of Hachi Hana, although th food is better at HH.
