Grilled River Prawns With Spicy And Sweet Soy Sauce

The weather was sunny today and so I decided to do some quick outdoor grilling. It had to be quick because it was still pretty chilly out there. In any case, all I needed was 15 minutes to grill these succulent river prawns.

I served the prawns with a spicy and sweet soy sauce. All I had to do was season the fresh prawns lightly with salt, pepper, and olive oil. As for the sauce, I just used some sweet soy sauce from Indonesia. You can find most of these simple items at your Asian grocers.

1 kg Medium Sized River Prawns, halved
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Sea Sat To Taste

Spicy & Sweet Soy Sauce
15 Thai Bird's Eye Chilies, chopped
4 Cloves Garlic, chopped
8 - 10 Tbsp Indonesian Sweet Soy Sauce (Kicap Manis)
1 Big (about 5 Tbsp) Lime Juice

Combine all the ingredients for sauce and season with extra lime juice if needed.

Season the prawns lightly with sea salt, ground black pepper and olive oil. Turn the grill on high and grill the prawns for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side. Serve immediately with the sauce.
